Pratt & Whitney Gains Joint Airbus A320neo Certification
Pratt & Whitney has obtained joint-type certification from the FAA and EASA for the Airbus A321neo, which is powered by its Geared Turbofan engine option.
Airbus announced the option of the Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan engine in December 2010, while today the engine is meeting all its commitments on fuel burn, noise and emissions.
Tom Pelland, senior vice president of Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engine Programs, said: “We value our partnership with Airbus on the A320neo program and achieving the common goal of helping our airline customers continuously improve aircraft performance and operating economics.”
To date, the Pratt & Whitney PurePower engine family has gained more than 80 customers from over 30 countries.
