Alaska Reaches Tentative Maintenance Labor Deal
Alaska Airlines has reached a tentative five-year agreement for nearly 700 aircraft technicians and related employees with the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) union.
The proposed contract includes increases to staff salaries and added job protection provisions for technical staff at Seattle-headquartered Alaska.
However, the airline said certain details are being withheld pending a ratification vote by AMFA members – a process expected to be completed by early March 2017.
If ratified, the new agreement will be up for renewal on October 21, 2021.
Bret Oestreich, the AMFA’s national director, stated that the agreement was officially reached in 53 days past the amendable contract date of October 17, 2016.
