Air Austral Expands 777 Aftermarket Agreement
Air Austral added new aftermarket support coverage with AFI KLM E&M for its Boeing 777 fleet due to upcoming fleet changes, which will require phase in and phase out support. The Reunion-based airline plans to retire two 777s in the first half of 2017 and also take delivery of two new Boeing 777-300s.
Air Austral, the launch customer for the 777 Component Services Program launched by Boeing and Air France Industries in 2003, now also uses AFI KLM E&M for airframe maintenance; engine and APU support; and entry into—and out of—service.
AFI KLM E&M plans to complete the 777 redelivery preparation work and four GE90 redelivery shop visits by the end of this year. Air Austral signed an agreement with the airline MRO in February for 787 component support, line maintenance It operates two 737s, three 777s, two 787s and two ATR 72s.
