Southwest Airlines Finalises Contract Extension for Appearance Technicians
Southwest Airlines has agreed terms with the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) on a tentative labour agreement for more than 200 aircraft appearance technicians.
In a statement released on Monday (October 10), Southwest said that the AMFA will be communicating the provisions of the proposed five-year extension in the coming days for the appearance technicians, which primarily cover aircraft detailing and appearance care services.
If approved, this extension will run through February 2021 and replace the current collective bargaining agreement that becomes amendable in February next year.
Landon Nitschke, Southwest Airlines vice-president maintenance operations, said the agreement will enhance pay and benefits for the Dallas-headquartered carrier’s employees, while supporting its long-term strategic business plan.
