MTU Maintenance has extended its V2500-A5 engine support services agreement with South American airline group LATAM Airlines for another five years, taking the cooperation up to 2024.

The contract covers MRO of LATAM’s fleet of V2500 engines powering the A320 Family.

The cooperation between the parties goes back to 1999, with Hanover-based MTU carrying out close to 400 shop visits for LATAM during that time.

LATAM, parent company of Brazil’s TAM Airlines and Chilean carrier LAN Airlines, currently operates 126 A320 Family aircraft fitted with V2500s engines.

MTU remains the largest MRO provider globally for the V2500, with an estimated 37 per cent market share of the International Aero Engines-produced turbofan.
